I am a qualified doctor and worked in the NHS as a GP for over a decade. When I left to look after my family in 2012, I trained as a yoga teacher and now run my own business, coaching professionals and teaching yoga and mindfulness meditation to groups and individuals.
Whilst working as a yoga therapist with clients with chronic disease, such as Parkinsons and MS, I realised how stress impacted both on their physical and mental health. I also saw how much I was using coaching whilst working in this role, empowering clients to manage their own health. In 2019, I consolidated my knowledge and gained the ILM level 7 coaching qualification.
Since then I have been working with the Primary Care Workforce Centre in Dorset, coaching GPs. I also work as a case manager with the Wessex Professional Support Unit.
Currently, I am studying for my PG Cert in Career Development at Edinburgh Napier University.
I have retained strong links with the NHS and recognise the stresses that working within the NHS can bring. I can also see how rewarding and fulfilling it can be in the right circumstances.
I continue to run a busy family home with two children. Sea swimming, walking and cooking are my favourite ways to relax.
I am particularly interested in career dilemmas, communication and work life balance, though I also have experience with leadership coaching.
In my coaching sessions I give people the time and space to recognise the wealth of skills they have as a doctor that can be used not only in clinical medicine. I encourage a greater level of self awareness to enable people to effect positive change by setting goals which are in line with their personal values. I believe this gives them the confidence to make effective career decisions.
I feel that by supporting people in the right way, they can flourish in their careers, whilst creating a greater sense of wellbeing and therefore improved performance.
I also focus on well being and work life balance, using both my coaching skills and drawing on my background in yoga and meditation. I feel that getting work life balance right and managing stress can help us to make effective decisions and communicate better. I see this both in my work as a coach and as a yoga therapist.

Listen to my recent podcast alongside Dr. Laura Edwards as we discuss the longer term impact of Covid-19 on our wellbeing.
“Having someone who listens and doesn’t try and “fix” me or try to mould me into something I am not has been really helpful. The sessions allowed me to be open and honest about my career and have given me the chance to explore myself and my options”
“Tamsin has helped me to understand my current core values and has given me an excitement about my career going forward for the first time in many years”
“Tamsin has helped me identify my priorities more clearly, enabling me to pursue strategies that will ensure my work and life are more congruent with my values. She has given me time to stop and think and has created a relaxed atmosphere giving me the sense I can talk about anything without being judged. She has provided the right sort of executive and leadership coaching for me at this time. Each session I have taken away action points and some of the things I have done in between sessions (while not explicitly discussed) have been influenced by having had time to think about the bigger picture during coaching”
