New low cost psychotherapy service for doctors

The BMA and the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund have joined forces to provide psychotherapy services.

DocHealth, based at BMA house in London, is a new confidential, non-for-profit service for doctors throughout the UK. Run by ex-Mednet psychotherapists, they offer up to 6 face-to-face sessions with signposting if longer term support is required. The service is exclusively self-referral and fees are based on a sliding scale in relation to the grade of the doctor and their personal financial circumstances.

The service is a pilot project with the objective to develop regional hubs if successful.

This is a highly welcomed initiative which will act as an invaluable and accessible service for doctors requiring psychotherapy at a time where mental health support services for doctors are dwindling at a time when it is otherwise greatly needed.
