CSL Vifor is experiencing rapid growth due to pipeline acceleration and launches in rare diseases. We are consolidating our field medical team to drive the successful market entry of TAVNEOS (avacopan), as well as the pre-launch of our second rare disease asset in nephrology with multiple indications.

The Field-based Medical Advisor Rare Diseases will cover north of the UK, as well as the Republic of Ireland and will report to the Medical Lead for Rare Diseases in the UK. It is an exciting opportunity to be involved in bringing innovative orphan medicines to the market and to be a part of a global team, while working cross-functionally within the UK affiliate. We are looking for a strong team player with good communication and networking skills. An entrepreneurial spirit combined with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders are important competencies for this role. Your main accountabilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and maintain scientific and medical expertise (relevant rare disease areas)
  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with KOLs, HCPs and professional organisations
  • KOL engagement, key account medical support, training and other appropriate activities
  • Facilitate scientific engagement, scientific exchange and provision of medical information
  • Provide Disease State Education, clinical presentations and responses to medical requests
  • Update medical team and other internal stakeholders (e.g. Market Access, Commercial) on interactions with medical community
  • Provide medical support for patient and formulary access, following global and local policies and procedures, including liaising with patient associations
  • Support the development, implementation and completion of medical activities (e.g. advisory boards, congress symposia, hospital meetings and speaker programs)
  • Serve as a medical resource for training internal medical and sales teams
  • Support company-sponsored clinical research and IIS process
  • Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences and support development of summaries of key data, presentations or symposium
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local and global laws, Codes of practice, guidelines and company policies and procedures

You will need to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Medical or Life Science Field (e.g. Pharmacy, Biology/ Biochemistry)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical practice, research or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated experience in KOL, HCP or medical community engagement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience in delivering scientific presentations to relevant audiences
  • Ability for overnight travel

Preferred Requirements

  • Medical Education (MD) with relevant clinical experience
  • Clinical and/or research experience in Internal Medicine, Nephrology or Rheumatology
  • 5 years’ experience with pharma industry locally, regionally or globally
  • 3 years’ experience as MSL/Field Medical advisor within Pharma
  • Strong track record in KOL engagement
  • Experience in clinical research
  • Experience in literature review and analysis
  • Experience in planning and delivering Medical Trainings
