Virgo Health is a specialist health communications agency, part of the GOLIN group and the wider IPG network of companies with more than 200 offices around the world as well as hubs in London, New York and Chicago.

The Health Education team is a specialist division focusing on medical education. We work across a diverse range of therapeutic areas including vaccines and infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis, nephrology, rheumatology, dermatology and rare diseases. Our programmes span the spectrum from pre- to post-launch, and we work on global, region Europe and UK accounts. We have a diverse range of projects and work collaboratively with our clients to deliver creative and impactful medical education that makes a difference to healthcare professionals and patients.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead and coordinate medical writing support resource this includes copy-edit, style and proofread documents
  • Mark-up/style copy and figures prior to design
  • Ensure all written work is produced in accordance with the Virgo quality and house style/client style (where appropriate)
  • Ensure adequate therapy area knowledge to actively interrogate copy and assist team in identifying errors
  • Ensure adherence to editorial SOPs and proactively recommend improvements to teams (share best practice)
  • Undertake specific writing projects, e.g., development of biographies, where appropriate and incorporate basic client/author comments (under the direction of a medical writer)
  • Undertake advanced internet searches to support medical writers and liaise with external services as required to initiate more complex searches
  • Manage administrative tasks, e.g., ordering and marking up references
  • Build professional relationships & interact with clients as well as external suppliers on specific aspects of projects and respond to requests. Provide full briefs and deal with any issues arising relating to specific aspects of projects

Skills/experience Needed

  • At least 12 months’ editing experience
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organised and ability to multitask
  • Excellent copy-editing and English language skills
  • Knowledge of specialist software, e.g., Endnote
  • Excellent knowledge of Veeva/Zinc and other approval platforms
  • Working knowledge of copyright law and procedures
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Word document formatting, with an understanding of master templates, colour palettes and general design principles
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to forecast and manage workload
