We are looking for a Senior Associate or Associate Director to join our highly regarded Corporate team in London, to focus on corporate M&A and venture capital transactions within the life sciences and healthcare sector.

The practice

We are a leading legal adviser in the mid-market for mergers, acquisitions and venture capital transactions. In this role you will work with companies at all stages of development, from early-stage pre-revenue biotechnology companies through to listed plcs, as well as investment funds and investment banks operating within the life sciences sector. We understand the unique challenges of the industry and deliver results-focused advice.

Recent Work Examples Include Advising

  • Global healthcare leader Grifols on its €1.1 billion acquisition of Tiancheng Pharmaceutical Holdings AG.
  • Uniphar plc, an international diversified healthcare services business servicing the requirements of more than 200 multinational pharmaceutical and medical technology manufacturers, on its acquisition of UK-based brand commercialisation and pharmaceutical marketing agency, E4H; and on its acquisition of UK-based pharmaceutical distributor Devonshire Healthcare Services.
  • hVIVO plc, a leading services provider in viral challenge studies and laboratory services, on the offer for that company received from Open Orphan plc (which constituted a reverse takeover).
  • Rhythm AI, a UK company focused on the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation (AF), on the closure of a £2.15m seed financing round.

The team

The London Corporate team is led by David Ferris (Partner) and is made up of 17 further Partners, 8 Associate Directors, 12 Senior Associates, 18 Associates, 4 Trainee Solicitors and 2 Paralegals. You will have the opportunity to work directly with a number of Partners in the team, working primarily with Matthew Edwards.

Spanning all three of our UK-based offices, the wider Corporate department is made up of over 100 lawyers in total.

Technical Skills And Experience

The right candidate will have in-depth and specific knowledge and experience of M&A and VC work within the life sciences and healthcare sector which will have been gained at a firm with a strong reputation in this area. Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking for a Senior Associate or Associate Director, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
