12-18 months Fixed Term Contract, initially, and most likely via NHS secondment, or alternatively, on KSS AHSN Terms

Hybrid/remote role – KSS AHSN’s primary office is in West Sussex, with other satellite offices in East Sussex and Surrey. The post holder(s) will be expected to travel around London and Southeast region.

* NB: The position is open to health and care professionals of all relevant professional backgrounds. There is potential for a job-share arrangement which may result in a split of executive and non-executive responsibilities. It is anticipated, however, that the post holder(s) will be currently working in a clinical, or care system leadership role.

Our work at Kent Surrey Sussex AHSN (KSS AHSN) is all about “transforming lives through innovation”. working with partners, we aim to improve the health and wellbeing of all citizens within our communities and contribute to a vibrant local economy.

KSS AHSN is one of 15 AHSNs set up by NHS England in 2013 and relicensed from April 2018, to operate as the key innovation arm of the NHS. We connect and support academics, NHS, industry and others to bring fresh energy to old problems, inspired thinking to new ones and to adopt innovative practice at scale.

Can you help the NHS adopt innovation and improvement faster, to help deliver better care and health outcomes for patients?

We are looking for passionate, motivated and credible individual(s) to strengthen our clinical/ care leadership. The appointment made will support a diverse range of national, local and third-party innovation programmes, externally, particularly with our three Integrated Care Systems (ICSs). It will also support our staff (internally) with this mission.

You will have an exemplary reputation for delivering transformation and be able to communicate with authority with clinicians and senior leaders within the system, including our commissioners and (ICS) stakeholders, as well as the public we serve.

Due to the diversity of programmes, we are keen to hear from and attract Allied Health Professionals and/or those with a social care background. We would also like to hear from medically qualified professionals too, especially if they have primary care experience, or secondary mental health care experience. Again, because of the diverse nature of work involved, we do not expect to fill the position, or, fulfil the role with a single appointment. Ideally, we are looking for a blend of skills, experiences and outlooks. We do, however, expect to make an appointment which will support the Board’s strategy and governance work, as the post will include being a voting member of the Board.

The post has become available, as the previous role holder has been promoted to the position of CEO.
